At the “Hands Off” rally Saturday in Charlotte, Becca Smoot, a local real estate agent, talked about how Medicaid has kept her family afloat after her daughter Ella’s premature birth. Medicaid is one of a number of federally-funded programs that President Trump and his advisor, Elon Musk, are targeting for deep cuts.

Thousands of people across North Carolina—and millions of people across the nation—participated in the protests Saturday.
